GOAL:         Teach written English to deaf in Leveque, providing access to reading materials, on-line classes, internet information and job possibilities. Language is new for many deaf who are anxious to expand their world.

DEAF COMMUNITY CLASSES.

Leveque Community School- Sewing and Craft Classes

GOAL:         Offer sewing and craft making classes to deaf adults, leading to employment and empowerment. Products will be offered for sale in various settings with proceeds used to support artists and vocational training program expansion.


Leveque Community School- English for Hearing

GOAL:         Teach written English to hearing individuals in Leveque, providing access to reading materials, on-line classes, internet information and job possibilities.

Jewelry Creations 


Goal: Teach Haiti Deaf Academy students to create jewelry and other crafts for sale.

A portion of the revenues from sales will support transitional home expenses and eventually provide an income for the students, leading to empowerment and self-reliance. Money management instruction will be included in the program.

Dates: January, 2017 – December, 2018

Cost: Twelve-month program for four students 


Community Computer Class

 
GOAL:         Teach basic computer skills to Leveque community members, to include word processing, spreadsheet creation, e-mail use and internet surfing. These new skills will allow students to take advantage of local internet cafes, opening up communication to family and friends.
