2014 Highlights and Blessings.

  • Expanded dorm space 
  • Raised rent funds for 12 months for both dorms and paid in advance as required
  • Increased number of children served to 52
  • National Technical Institute for the Deaf and Gallaudet visits for future workshops in Haiti
  • Hosted four interns during the summer
  • Recruited one of the interns as a full time missionary with HDA
  • Received Hear The World Grant to cover hearing testing, hearing devices, technician training, speech therapy and speech therapist training
  • Hosted a Hear The World team of audiologists, speech therapists and technicians
  • Trained speech coaches and hearing aid technicians through Hear The World
  • Hosted two American deaf pastors for training the Haitian deaf pastors 
  • Baptized 6 young deaf adults
  • Hosted six short term service teams who taught bible lessons, sewing, agriculture, teacher training and interpreter training
  • Haitian Deaf pastors began three year training program through CPR-3, which, upon completion, will award a degree on par with a Bachelor’s degree in Theology
  • Sponsorships (partial or full) secured for 25 of the 52 children
  • Full (100%) sponsorships secured for six children
  • Bios written and posted on the website for most of the children
  • Additional teachers hired for school for a total of  12 employed teachers of the Deaf
  • Initiated Project Love, a supplemental teaching program for older girls
  • Initiated uniform sewing program for older students
  • Initiated market day for children to sell their crafts to visiting teams
  • Opened store in Cabaret to sell wares to visiting teams


 

2015 Goals and Accomplishments.

  • Receive Haiti business license
  • Acquire land to build permanent facilities the Haiti Deaf Academy
  • Receive IBESR certification to validate our standing as a high quality children’s academy (almost done!)
  • Successfully apply for USAID grant (goal is September)
  • Build or acquire permanent dorms (almost have the land paperwork completed)
  • Increase sponsorship numbers to cover operational costs
  • Expose more audiences to our story, seeking funding/sponsorships by enlarging our base of support (booths at conventions, church visits, etc)
  • Attend four conferences for networking and exposure
  • Increase student number to full capacity as sponsorship funds allow.
  • Continued support for pastors training program
  • Host three Hear The World teams for continued speech therapy and technician training (January, June, October)
  • Host five teams for special groups (churches/special interest) (already schedled!)
  • Host four teams open to all (already scheduled and getting full!)
  • Expand public relations effort to secure media exposure
  • Create promotional video for deaf audiences
  • Raise full support for Executive Director position
  • Recruit volunteers for specific roles: Child sponsorships, Public Relations, Trip Coordinator Asst, etc.
